My research stems from the contemplation of nature where the reminiscence of physical landscapes is transformed into pictorial inner atmospheres. It is a lyrical abstraction.
Color – inspired by the turquoise of Italian lakes, Japanese indigo, the cold blues of Atlantic skies, or Australian ochres – is the center of my expression. Freely layered, the hues vibrate as they move between marks and stains, between soft transitions and intense contrasts.
The creative process is meditative, almost ritualistic, guided by the hand-crafted preparation of the canvas. I employ the ancient techniques of the masters of the past, starting with the linen canvas, which I prepare myself to ensure the colors and light acquire brilliance. I draw inspiration from the Venetian colorists, I love Turner's atmospheres and Monet's light, but my mentor is Tetsuro Shimizu, an abstract painter capable of translating the pictorial techniques of two cultures into a contemporary painting with a universal language.
Finally, my works present themselves as poetic and soothing spaces where the viewer can enter and be swept away by light and color. In this frenetic world, my paintings aim to encourage a pause for reflection and mental relaxation rediscovering our spiritual connections.
