Chromes

With Chromes, I explore the psychological and emotional dimension of color — something inherently subjective, shaped not only by physiology but also by personal experience. Neuroscience shows that color can activate memory: for me, yellow carries the pure, childlike joy of summer, the warm scent of sunlight on my skin.

Across this oil on canvas series, hints of purple appear, sometimes subtly. Purple is the color of mystery; it blends almost magically with other hues, creating new and complex harmonies. Light itself has no color — it is an effect generated by the eye and the brain. Yet this “illusion” can deeply move us, reviving memories and shaping emotion. Blue, for instance, inevitably evokes water or sky. In Violablu, it becomes the quiet, enveloping depth of a night or an embrace.

From a stylistic perspective, Chromes is a focused study of individual colors, a way to understand each one on its own before bringing them together more freely and intentionally in the Evocations series.
